Duolingo, best known as a language learning app, now makes a piano

Duolingo recently announced a portable piano. Yes, we’re talking about the same app that’s become synonymous with learning foreign languages. The app also has some music learning courses, so this keyboard is meant for that, not for pressing keys to trigger Spanish phrases.

The company teamed up with Loog for this device, so it’s basically a reskin of the already existing Loog Piano. It switches from red to, dare I say, brat green and comes with a neat little smartphone stand for keeping an eye on the app during practice sessions. Other than that, it looks almost exactly like the OG version.

This isn’t a bad thing. The Loog x Duolingo Piano is a three-octave digital keyboard with built-in stereo speakers, wooden sides, and a rechargeable battery for portable use. The keys are probably one of the biggest selling points, as they allow for mobility (from piano to forte). These Loog keyboards are almost the only digital pianos with velocity-sensitive keys at this size and price point.

It doubles as a standard MIDI controller via USB-C, and has a sustain port and a headphone jack. This special edition also comes with Duolingo flashcards for budding piano players. Of course, it also integrates with the company’s app for on-the-fly tutorials. The Loog Piano app is coming, but we don’t know when. We contacted the company for a solid release date and confirmation that Duolingo Piano will integrate with the Loog app. We’ll update this post when we find out, though I’d be extremely surprised if there isn’t cross-app functionality.

Like the original Loog Piano, it costs $249. Preorders are live now, though it won’t ship until November. If you really want a student-grade portable piano, the standard Loog Piano is yours to start with right away.

Samsung’s first Unpacked event of 2025 introduced the Galaxy S25 series – as expected. While the phones don’t have dramatically upgraded specs, the company has packed more AI into the devices – you guessed it! This latest batch is more context-sensitive and predictive, and some of it even benefits more from the phones’ slightly upgraded hardware.
