The Apple Watch Ultra 2 drops to a record-low price ahead of October Prime Day

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the high-end option in the company’s smartwatch lineup, which means it comes with a pretty hefty price tag. However, ahead of October’s Prime Day, the Apple Watch Ultra 2’s price has dropped from $799 to $689, its lowest price ever. The 14 percent discount is available on models with rugged titanium cases for small to large wrists. This includes watches fitted with the Blue Alpine Loop, Indigo Alpine Loop, Orange Ocean Band, and more.

Apple released the Ultra 2 in 2022 and, despite rumors, has yet to announce a successor. Our review gave the Ultra 2 85 points thanks to features like its long battery life. It lasts about 36 hours, allowing us to easily use it for three days without needing to recharge. Apple also claims it can last about 60 hours when Lower Power Mode is enabled, a setting that turns off features like the Always On display and cellular connection and heart rate notification.

We named the Ultra 2 the best Apple Watch for adventurers because of its battery life, compass app, water temperature gauge, and an onboard siren that sounds if you get into trouble. Plus, it can set waypoints and offers a Wayfinder watch face in Night mode. However, one of our quibbles about the watch was that it was too easy to accidentally press the action button instead of the crown.

If you’ve been waiting for a deal on Apple’s flagship AirPods Max, now’s the time to buy a pair. Amazon has discounted the USB-C model to $449, 18 percent off their suggested price of $549. Most of the colors have sold out since we first posted this story, but the Starlight color is still available at the time of this update.

The AirPods Max need no introduction, but it’s worth taking a moment to consider whether it makes sense to buy them in 2025. There’s no doubt they sound great and offer close integration with other Apple devices, but if you don’t count the minor refresh Apple did last September, the AirPods Max are now over four years old.

In that time, the competition has only gotten better; in fact, the AirPods Max aren’t even on Engadget’s list of the best noise-cancelling headphones you can buy in 2025. Even taking their current $100 discount into account, there are options like the Sony WH-1000XM5 that are better and cheaper.

Still, a case can be made for the AirPods Max, especially for someone deeply invested in Apple’s ecosystem. As easy as Sony’s app makes pairing, the process still isn’t as easy and seamless as Apple’s native integration. If you use Siri often, the AirPods Max win here, too. Just keep in mind that Apple is likely to release a proper update for the AirPods Max later this year.
